We are pleased to announce that the final report of the ’Plant Filter Islands’ – 2nd Edition project is now available on our website!

This initiative focused on the natural purification of water through floating platforms planted with selected species that absorb pollutants from agricultural runoff. The project combined science, education, and community involvement to demonstrate how nature-based solutions can protect local reservoirs.

From March to September 2025, students, teachers, parents, and local residents took part in workshops, built plant filter islands, and observed their positive impact on water quality and biodiversity. The results confirm that this ecological method helps reduce pollution and restores habitats for aquatic life.

The comprehensive analysis prepared by the Water Institute provides evidence for the effectiveness of natural water filtration methods    and lays the foundation for further development of sustainable solutions.

The report in Polish and English can be found on the project subpage:

This project shows that clean water and a healthy environment can be achieved when science and community work together.
