The Urban Aquaponic Farm, which for several months has been the centre of cultivation and breeding in the closed aquaponic system of Wrocław and Lower Silesia, is starting a new chapter, familiarising the public in successive regions of Poland with new food production technologies.
To meet the threats of the modern world, the need for alternative ways of food production and respect for the environment, as well as the public’s demand and interest in new technologies and developments, H2O SciTech – Institute of Water , in cooperation with the Żory Development Agency, will continue to popularise aquaponics and hydroponics on the basis of the AquaFarm.
The farm installation has been relocated to Żory and there the farm will resume its breeding, educational and social activities. Its operation will help to gain knowledge and interest among the residents of Żory and the region ahead of the planned construction of the Centre for Innovative Urban Agriculture, as part of the key project ‘Green impulse for the Knowledge and Competence Mine – socio-economic transformation of the area after the former KWK Żory mine’.
