Profiling and targeting and cookie policy
Website traffic data are used for profiling and targeting of advertisements on external
services - Facebook, Google, Instagram. These are based on non-specific criteria,
making it impossible to identify an individual user.
Cookies
Cookies are IT data, in particular text files, which are stored on the end device of the
user of websites and applications. Cookies usually contain the domain name of the
website they come from, the time they are stored on the end device and a unique
number. Cookies are not used to identify the user and the user's identity is not
established from them. The publisher's website may place a cookie on the browser if the
browser allows it. Importantly, the browser only allows the website to access cookies
placed by that website and not those placed by other websites.
The entity placing information in the form of cookies and other similar technologies on
the user's terminal equipment (e.g. computer, laptop, smartphone, Smart TV) and
accessing them is the Water Science and Technology Institute H2O Scitech with its
registered office in Wrocławand the above-mentioned data recipients, i.e. entities
cooperating with the Controller, e.g. partners providing analytical services, advertisers,
application developers, network advertising agencies.
The websites of the Controller's partners linked to the
site are subject to their own privacy policies (including the use of cookies).
What are the purposes of processing cookies?
The use of cookies and other similar technologies is necessary for purposes:
1 to adapt the content of websites and applications to the user's preferences and
optimise the use of websites; e.g. cookies allow, in particular, the recognition of
the user's device and the appropriate display of a website adapted to the user's
individual needs;
2 to create statistics that help us understand how users use the websites and
applications, so that we can improve their structure and content;
3 the presentation of advertisements, e.g. in a manner that takes into account the
User's interests or place of residence (individualisation of the advertising
message) and with the guarantee of excluding the possibility of repeated
presentation of the same advertisement to the User;
4 the implementation of the surveys - in particular to avoid presenting the same
survey to the same audience more than once and to present the surveys in a way
that takes into account the interests of the audience.
What types of cookies are used?
Due to the lifespan of cookies and other similar technologies, the Controller uses two
main types of these files:
1 session files - temporary files stored on the user's terminal equipment until the
user leaves the website and application or the software (web browser) is
switched off;
2 permanent - stored on the user's terminal equipment for the time specified in
the parameters of the cookies or until they are deleted by the User.
Due to the purpose of cookies and other similar technologies, the Controller uses the
following types of cookies:
1 necessary for the operation of the service and applications- enabling the use of
our services, e.g. authentication cookies used for services that require
authentication;
2 security cookies, e.g. used to detect authentication fraud;
3 performance - enabling a collection of information about how websites and
applications are used;
4 functional - enabling “remembering” the User's selected settings and
personalising the User's interface, e.g. with regard to the User's chosen language
or region of origin, font size, appearance of the website and applications, etc;
5 advertising - to provide Users with advertising content more tailored to their
interests;
6 statistical - used to count statistics about websites and applications.
Browser settings management
In many cases, the web browsing software (web browser) allows information in the
form of cookies and other similar technologies to be stored on the user's terminal
equipment by default. However, the user can change these settings at any time. Failure
to make changes means that the aforementioned information may be placed and stored
on your terminal device and that we will therefore store information on your terminal
device and access this information.
It is possible, for example, to manage cookies yourself from the browser you are using.
In the most popular browsers, it is possible, among other things to:
1 accept the use of cookies, which allows the user to take full advantage of the
options offered by the websites;
2 manage cookies at the level of individual sites selected by the User;
3 specify settings for different types of cookies, for example accepting permanent
cookies as session cookies, etc;
4 block or delete cookies.
